This Geotimes Highlights section is unlike any before it. Since at least 1970, Geotimes has been offering summaries of research trends and discoveries for about 30 earth science disciplines, and all these summaries have appeared together in print.
This year, we aim to leverage the archiving potential of our Web site and offer the Highlights section in full online. As a result, you can visit the site year-round and access any story. At the same time, the online realm has given our voluntary authors more room to discuss more research.
The print version is a gateway to this longer online version. As you read these
online stories, you will see this symbol in
places where the print version left off and the online version offers more.
For some stories, it is difficult to outline where the print and Web versions
differ, and for these we have included our online logo at the top of the story.
We welcome readers thoughts and suggestions about the print-Web Highlights.
